Loan Period & Fine Schedule

Loan Period & Renewals

All books are loaned for 21 days. Most DVDs are loaned for 7 days, TV series are loaned for 14 days. A maximum of 15 items may be checked out at one time on a library card.

Items can be renewed — unless there is a hold on the item or items have already reached their renewal limit.

Fines & Lost Items

Haledon Public Library does not charge overdue fines on items checked out at Haledon Public Library. Please be aware that other libraries in the PALS Plus system do charge overdue fines.

Patrons who lose library materials or do not return them in a timely manner will be charged replacement value of the item.

Please note that for your convenience, PALS Plus materials may be checked out and returned to any PALS Plus Library.

Automatic Renewals

Haledon Library now offers courtesy Automatic Renewal service to library patrons, whose cards are current and in good standing. Eligible items will automatically renew on the morning that they are due, and the due date will be extended for another loan period. There are only two automatic renewals allowed, except for new books and movies which can only renew once.

Patrons will be notified of the items’ status via email. Patrons can check their account online, or if currently signed up for email notifications, patrons will receive an email summary of what items were able to renew and what could not be renewed.

Please note that not all items are eligible for this service.

Haledon Public Library cannot auto-renew:
– Items that have been requested by other patrons.
– Items that have already reached their renewal limit.
