Using a Library Computer
Eligible Computer Users
Computer users must have a valid Haledon Library card or have a valid Library card from an eligible library.
Guest passes are available for those without a valid library card, with a proper form of ID and on a limited basis.
Computers are available on a first come, first served basis for a 60-minute session with a maximum of 3 sessions.
Only two people will be allowed at any one computer unless a parent is supervising two children.
The Internet is a resource tool offered by the Library and is to be used for educational, informational and recreational purposes only.
Users must be aware not all information found on the Internet is accurate, current or complete.
The user will assume full responsibility for any charges incurred when accessing a fee-based service.
Downloading
Programs and data may not be stored on the hard drives of the Library’s computers due to security settings on the public computers.
Users may save data on a flash drive or a special drive dedicated to this purpose and wiped clean at the end of each day.
Downloading of software on any of the library’s computers is not permitted.
Liability
Use of the internet is a privilege and inappropriate use will result in a suspension and eventual cancellation of this privilege. Examples of inappropriate use include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Any illegal purposes.
- Harassment of others.
- Libeling or slandering other users.
- Violations of another user’s privacy.
- Destruction of or damage to equipment, software or data belonging to the library or other users.
- Disruption or unauthorized monitoring of electronic communications.
- Unauthorized copying of copyright-protected material.
- Disruptive activities and behavior.
- Viewing of certain materials in the public library may be considered improper in time, place or manner. The Library staff reserves the right to prohibit material that in their judgment is inappropriate for viewing in this public area. This may include materials that you do not find personally offensive.
*Privacy cannot be guaranteed on the public access computers; therefore, we do not recommend entering sensitive, personal or financial information at any workstation.
