The Haledon Foundation for Literacy
The Foundation’s Goals are to:
- Support the Library in its mission to provide free and equal access to books, online resources, developing literacy skills, language resources, children’s programs, and a welcoming, comfortable, safe community space.
- Expand cultural programming and services beyond the Library’s doors.
- Provide financial support to help with capital improvement projects, technology services, and community programs.
- Advocate for the needs of the library and its patrons and help raise the profile of the library through various events.
- Utilize 501(c)(3) status to multiply private funds through matching grants and corporate gift programs.

Foundation Members Needed:
The Haledon Foundation for Literacy is seeking new board members of various skill sets with the desire to support the Haledon Public Library. Applicants must be enthusiastic about rolling up their sleeves as active, working trustees and be willing to dedicate their resources to growing the organization and ensuring its success in the coming years.
Ways to Give:
Library supporters can make either recurring or one-time donations to the Foundation. There is an option to dedicate your gift and, unless otherwise specified, your gift will be dedicated to where help is most needed.
Donations by check should be made payable to the “Haledon Foundation for Literacy” and mailed to 510 Belmont Avenue, Third Floor, Haledon, NJ 07508 or handed directly to library staff during hours of operation.
Corporate Matching Programs
Many companies sponsor matching gift programs to encourage philanthropy among their employees, and some will even match contributions made by spouses and retirees. Contact your employer to find out if they will double or even triple the impact of your gift to the Haledon Foundation for Literacy.
Planned Giving
Through bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable trusts, and IRA qualified charitable distributions, you can meet your charitable and financial goals, providing for your loved ones and supporting the library at the same time.
Books as Tributes & Gifts
Create a lasting tribute, honor a friend’s birthday or other special event, or just surprise a loved one be dedicating a library book in their name. Your donation will be used to purchase a book to add to the Library’s collection to either honor or memorialize the friend, relative, or group you designate.
